For reals though, there’s a giant red marker on each enemy in Realistic Battles, if you don’t know how you get killed, you’re really badly failing in situation awareness. And honestly, arcade is even worse in that aspect. Air combat in arcade is a furball every single time. There’s over 20 planes in the sky, all gunning for various targets of opportunity anytime at once. In realistic, you only have what, 12 enemies to keep track of, of which probably only 4 will ever be involved in the same engagment at the same time? Arcade has much smaller maps and much more enemies to keep track of, and unlike realistic, they come back in a new plane every time, probably gunning for the person who shot them down. Any helpful advice for a noob? My recommendation for aerial battles is to play a bit of arcade to first get the handle of how flying works, and once you’ve played a couple of games to at least get a handle of 3d combat maneuvering and shooting, decide where you want to go from there. Realistic is more about air to air combat maneuvering and positioning before lining up the killshot.
Delayed in the U. This is a flight combat game through and through — at least until vehicles show up later down the line — with a Free-to-Play twist. There is some inner desire I think most humans have to take to the sky and look down at the planet they live on, soaring like a bird. And combining this feeling with a competitive online game is what Gaijin entertainment is trying to do with War Thunder. Seeing how Gaijin is no stranger to war simulations, the premise of War Thunder is very promising, but does it manage to achieve its goal and compete with other titles like World of Warplane?
Gameplay As with any game really, gameplay is the key for making the game enjoyable, and I have to say this is where War Thunder really shines. The gameplay is smooth, taking away all unnecessary things in the UI, letting you focus on flying and shooting. The visuals are really great when looking out the plane window and seeing the horizon.
War thunder, via its gameplay, makes a clear statement about what it wants the game to be about, which is flying. In that sense they succeed greatly, but as you will read later on, this is the only area in which the game really shines. Arcade and realism The main objective of the game is to shoot down enemy planes and all its game modes are about this. What instead sets it apart is how realistic it is and how easy it is to get shot down.

In Air Realistic mode, matchmaking is performed based on the aircraft selected for the battle. Since the vehicles not selected cannot be used in the battle, there is no need to include them in the calculation. In Ground Forces Arcade mode, matchmaking is performed based on the tank with the highest BR in the set. In Ground Forces Realistic mode, matchmaking is performed based on the tank or aircraft with the highest BR in the entire set depending on which vehicle has the highest BR.

September 20, This game is so awesome and addictive for me that I’m not able to play absolutely anything else!! It is absolutely free to play, despite what some people would have you believe. If you want to just play and have fun, you don’t have to pay a cent. However, if you’re impatient and want to grind all the vehicles within a year, you will need to buy a premium account at least which isn’t actually expensive especially if you get it during a sale.
I’ve been playing since mid and have found the best way to play is to play both air and ground forces of at least 3 nations. Recently, the most exciting news besides the addition of naval battles, is that War Thunder is not a WW2 or s era game any more. Already it includes vehicles from the s and according to the developers, they’ll go up till present-era!! But is it really truly free to play? War Thunder – Campers never gets the girl In War Thunder, there really is no camping – you are thrown into the action from the beginning and the following ten-fifteen minutes feels like a non-stop action packed war movie, where you are zooming and booming, watching your six and blasting the enemy with lead.
Getting to the action is quick, and unless you are in a bomber, there is never a dull moment. And initiative, and bold moves, often pay off and the rewards are huge – sneak capturing an airport, outflanking an enemy, divebombing a destroyer, its all possible and fun! But why should I be punished for getting on a team of lemmings, if I kill the five tanks on my side of the map? On the other hand, this also means that if your team did well, and you sucked, well, then your rewards will suck equally. I love getting rewards for playing the game how it is supposed to be played – and then getting extra rewards for all different kinds of things.

In realistic battles, you have only one plane and it’s BR is used to match you with approximately equal enemies. Usually you should not be put up against planes that are more than 1BR higher or lower than you. In arcade mode it’s a bit more complex.

The Devs want to study player behaviour and how the current economy is working for at least a week, but changes are already planned and there will be changes in the future. They are aware the current economy was a shock to the system and will work to improve it. The changes were required however due to the future releases of ships, tanks, and World War mode. The Devs were made aware of the issue of gaining xp at a rate that out matches the earning of Lions, leading players to reach higher levels but can only afford a plane s from several levels below them.
They invited players to submit examples of this and promised to look into it. It can be made more realistic, but not to the level where entry and new players cannot play. It was rolled back due to the number of bugs in it.
